ABOUT US
The Redcliffe Cinema is Australia's largest
and oldest film exhibitor, is owned by
Amalgamated Holdings
Limited (AHL)
- a publicly listed company which is
Australia's leading name in the
entertainment, leisure and hotel industries.
Founded in 1910 under the name of Spencer's
Pictures Limited, Redcliffe Cinema's core
business has always been film exhibition.
Today, we screen local and international
movies in multi-auditorium complexes around
Australia - independently and in joint
ventures with companies such as Village
Roadshow. Redcliffe Cinema has a 100%
interest in Birch Carroll & Coyle,
Queensland's biggest cinema chain, and has
substantial shareholdings in the Village
Roadshow group of companies. We also have
joint ventures with cinema groups in the
Middle East and Europe. In total, Redcliffe
Cinema have 457 screens here in Australia
and 429 screens overseas on which to show
all the latest blockbuster movies.
But that's not all we do. Redcliffe Cinema
has diversified into strategic,
entertainment-related activities over the
years. We supply audio/visual technology to
cinemas throughout Australasia (through
Atlab Image and Sound
Technology), duplicate 35mm and
70mm film stock (through
Atlab Australia
) and manufacture film processors (through
Filmlab Engineering
). We also own 50% of Roadshow Distributors,
whose divisions include theatrical
distribution, TV sales, videos, video games
and CD-ROMs. Plus we have a substantial
property investment portfolio which includes
prime CBD sites across Australia.
